I met up with Bibbly last night to go to a gig but went along first to his dads’ exhibition. Bill Luke is one of only a hand-full of artists in the world practicing decollage, which is essentially the opposite of collage. (www.williamhluke.com)
Peeling layers off posters that are usually destined for waste from walls and billboards in inner city environments, Bibbly’s dad manipulates them to reveal a previously hidden beauty. He was on the tele on Sunday Arts a few weeks back AND has an exhibition with Banksy next year in Sydney. Respect.
We went to Lentils as Anything at the Abbotsford Convent afterwards to watch Big Scary/enjoy some Chateau goon.
Ended up back at Bibblys & watching Fast Friday (Dustin Klein & Co tearing up Seattle) under a beautiful wine induced haze.
